Doug: Atlantic City Marathon

October 20, 2024

Hi, I’m Doug! I’m fundraising for the Recovery Road Runners starting now and through the Atlantic City marathon in October 2024. Help a great non-profit organization grow! It is a cause dear to my heart. Along the way I will share my story and how I’ve gone from being near death and outrageously unhealthy from my alcoholism to the best shape of my adult life and qualifying for the Boston Marathon. This is going to be a trip of imperfect action and vulnerability. It very well could end in “failure” but think about what we’ll learn along the way! I hope to inspire and help others through this process.

Vinny: NorCal Backyard Ultra

November 8-9, 2024

Hi, I’m Vinny! I'm 3 years Sober after more than 30 years of drinking. I'm a lifelong endurance athlete growing up a competitive Swimmer and picking up Triathlon, Cycling and Running along the way. My current passion is trail and Ultra Running. I'm an RRCA certified run coach and love to work with like minded runners in recovery.

I'm currently training for the NORCAL Backyard Ultra where my goal is to be the last man standing!. I'm also planning a new Fastest Known Time route to summit all the accessible Volcanic Morros of the Santa Lucia range in San Luis Obispo CA. The route will be about 35 miles with close to 10,000 feet of elevation gain.

Help me help people get and stay sober through running. I want to change peoples lives like I changed mine:

One Day At A Time - One Mile At A Time

I need your help to do it. Every dollar counts.

Joe: Indiana Trail 100 Mile Run

October 12-13, 2024

Hi, I’m Joe! Follow my journey to 100 Miles! I'm raising money to benefit Recovery Road Runners, INC, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.

More information about Recovery Road Runners, INC: At Recovery Road Runners (RRR for short), we support and inspire sober runners with 1:1 and small group coaching led by certified coaches, free resources, sober running events, trainings, and community and relationship building. Started as a Facebook group in 2021, it began as a place for runners maintaining a sober lifestyle to support one another and now has morphed to new heights our founder and admin members never thought possible.

Katie: Queen Bee 1/2 Marathon

October 12, 2024

Hi, I’m Katie! I will be 1 year sober on August 20, 2024!!!

I'm currently training for a PR at the Queen Bee Half Marathon in Cincinnati on October 12. I'm also hoping to add my second full marathon to my calendar by the end of 2024, but nothing scheduled yet.

I'm an adventurous momma-bear with a serious case of wanderlust. My days are a mix of nonprofit hustle, trail-blazing adventures, and goofy giggles with my little one.

Living in the incredible playground that is Yellowstone National Park keeps life exciting and challenging in all the right ways. I'm passionate about recovery and believe in the power of community to heal. Let's crush some goals together!

Amber: NorCal Backyard Ultra

November 8-9, 2024

Hi, I’m Amber! They call me the “Fearless Leader." 💪 I'm a proud mom of two amazing boys, a passionate advocate for sobriety, and a dedicated runner. I’m also the founder of Recovery Road Runners Nonprofit, an organization committed to raising awareness and funds for drug and alcohol addiction recovery and prevention, with a particular focus on supporting families in recovery and those affected by addiction.

As Recovery Road Runners takes its first steps, we’re actively seeking sponsors, partners, and donations to propel this vital organization forward. With your support, Recovery Road Runners can expand its reach, providing critical resources and community support to those in need. Our mission is clear: to save lives, inspire change, and offer hope to families struggling with the impacts of addiction.

In a significant effort to raise funds and awareness, I’m preparing to participate in the NorCal Backyard Ultra in Folsom, CA, on November 8-9, 2024. This grueling endurance race is not only a personal challenge for me but also a powerful platform to draw attention to the cause I hold dear. Every mile will be dedicated to raising money for Recovery Road Runners, with the ultimate goal of making a tangible difference in the lives of those battling addiction.

Running has been a transformative part of my recovery journey, and through Recovery Road Runners, I want to give others the same opportunity to find strength, community, and hope.

Benny: Pikes Peak Ascent 1/2 Marathon

September 21, 2024

Hi I'm Benny! I am 3 years sober currently training for the Pikes Peak half-marathon which will be the most difficult race I have signed up for. Running has always been a passion of mine but since sobriety I have reached goals and pushed limits that I did not think were possible.

If you are not familiar with Pikes Peak in Colorado it is classified as a 14er which exceeds in elevation over 14000 feet above sea level.

I am raising money for Recovery Road Runners which started off as a Facebook group I had joined but has become so much more to me. It is a great outlet to keep in contact with other sober and like minded individuals. Amber, the founder of this nonprofit organization offers so many opportunities to stay or get sober through training and events. We are all in it together to normalize sobriety and use running as an outlet. Donating to this organization would mean so much to me as I continue my journey through sobriety along with many others.
